Engineering Manager

POSITION  |  Senior Leadership Opportunity
LOCATION  |  Battleford Road Facility, Northern Ireland
REPORTING TO  |  Managing Director

Senior Leadership Opportunity | Heavy Engineering | Product Development | Aggregate Washing

Shape the next generation of aggregate washing equipment.

Due to continued exponential growth and significant investment in our product portfolio, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and ambitious Engineering Manager to join our Senior Leadership Team.

This is a key leadership position within the business, offering the successful candidate the opportunity to influence our engineering strategy, product development and operational performance while leading a talented multidisciplinary engineering team.

Operating within the aggregate washing and materials-processing sector, you will take responsibility for the engineering delivery and continued development of a market-leading range of equipment and complete processing solutions.

If you combine strong technical knowledge with the ability to lead people, improve engineering processes and turn innovative ideas into robust, manufacturable products, this is an opportunity to make a significant impact.

The Role

As Engineering Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the performance and development of the engineering function.

You will lead highly innovative and customised projects from initial concept and application requirements through detailed design, manufacture, testing and product release, ensuring solutions are technically robust, commercially viable and designed for efficient manufacture.

Working closely with Sales, Applications, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Operations and Senior Management, you will ensure engineering supports both customer requirements and the wider strategic objectives of the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor and develop a fast-growing multidisciplinary engineering team, creating a high-performance and accountable engineering culture.
  • Take ownership of engineering projects from concept and design through to manufacture, testing and production release.
  • Drive the development and continuous improvement of equipment for the aggregate washing and materials-processing industry.
  • Establish and maintain strong engineering standards covering design reviews, calculations, drawings, BOMs, design release and engineering change control.
  • Ensure products are designed with manufacturability, reliability, serviceability, safety and whole-life cost at the forefront.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing and Supply Chain to improve design-for-manufacture and design-for-assembly (DFMA) and reduce product cost and complexity.
  • Support Sales and Applications teams with technically challenging projects and bespoke customer requirements.
  • Lead New Product Development (NPD) and New Product Introduction (NPI) programmes from concept through to successful production launch.
  • Manage engineering resources and priorities across multiple projects, ensuring agreed cost, quality and delivery targets are achieved.
  • Develop engineering project plans and provide clear visibility of workload, priorities, risks and delivery dates.
  • Manage engineering budgets and support product costing and value-engineering activities.
  • Champion standardisation and modularisation, reducing unnecessary bespoke engineering while maintaining product flexibility.
  • Drive product quality improvements through structured root-cause analysis and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure engineering activities and machinery designs comply with applicable legislation, machinery safety requirements and engineering standards.
  • Develop meaningful engineering KPIs and use them to continually improve departmental performance.
  • Promote innovation and actively identify opportunities to improve existing products, processes and technologies.

About You

We are looking for an Engineering Manager who is equally comfortable leading people, solving complex engineering problems and contributing at senior management level.

Ideally, you will have:

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Proven experience leading an engineering or design function within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong experience within aggregate washing, crushing, screening, quarrying, recycling, bulk materials handling or similar heavy machinery sectors.
  • A strong understanding of the design and manufacture of heavy fabricated machinery and bespoke engineered equipment.
  • Knowledge of aggregate washing equipment and processes such as screens, hydrocyclones, pumps, dewatering systems, conveyors and associated structures would be highly advantageous.
  • Strong experience managing engineering projects and competing priorities within an Engineer-to-Order / Configure-to-Order manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrable experience in product development, NPD/NPI and continuous improvement.
  • Strong 3D CAD capability, ideally with Creo, together with a good understanding of engineering drawings, tolerancing and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience managing BOMs, engineering change control and product configuration.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the confidence to work across Engineering, Manufacturing, Sales and Senior Leadership.
  • Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of how engineering decisions affect product cost, manufacturing hours, lead time and profitability.
  • A practical, solutions-focused approach with a genuine passion for developing people and building high-performing engineering teams.

What We Offer
