PROJECT OVERVIEW
This game-changing indoor wash plant was the first of it’s kind in Oslo, successfully installed by Tyrone International.
Tyrone International provided a full turn-key package, including: Initial material testing, plant design, production, transport, assembly, testing, commissioning and full training for FRANO’s plant operating personnel.
The plant was completed in July 2025 with permission from the State Administrator to wash 300,000 tonnes each year with plans to scale up to around 1 million tonnes per year.
THE CHALLENGE
One of the main requirements was to house the plant indoors to maximise uptime during periods of severe weather. Overcoming this challenge improved efficiency and provided a comfortable working environment for the FRANO team to operate and maintain the plant.
The Solution
The contract included the full design, production, transport, installation, testing of the plant as well as training FRANO’s operating personnel.
The project was backed by expert-led commissioning and industry-leading after-sales support from the Tyrone International team, ensuring both immediate impact and long-term value.
RESULTS ACHIEVED
The facility washes and sorts both clean and contaminated materials, making it possible to convert up to 80% of C&D waste materials into high-quality recycled sand and aggregates. These are now being reused in road, construction, drainage and aggrecultural projects.
The plant is currently capable of washing 300,000 tonnes each year with plans to scale up to around 1 million tonnes.
In addition, CO₂ emissions for the area have been reduced by 7,6 kg per ton, equivalent to 2,3 million tonnes of CO₂ per year, due to the reduction in haulage. The FRANO site has reduced truck journeys by over 10,000 annually because the materials are now brought here instead of previously being transported significantly further or sent to landfill.
TESTIMONIAL

“FRANO’s customers drive in with contaminated materials and drive out again with new goods. On the way out, they can also charge their vehicle if needed. This is a win-win-win for everyone involved”
